Photoessay: Action Shots with the Pups

Last week my friend Steve and I took our dogs (Zoe the Pitbull and Haley the Aussie Shepherd) to a local park to practice on some pet action photoshoots.  It was in the middle of the day and a bit hot in Pasadena but our dogs were troopers and still played a decent amount of fetch, with water/rest breaks in between.  It was a lot of fun and gave me some good practice with my new 70-200mm F4L lens.

Let me just say I love working with dogs, whether volunteering, dog sitting or photo practice.  The great thing about pet photography is, while different than humans, the more distorted their face gets in a shot, the more cute, funny and adorable they are.

These photos were shot with the following lenses: Canon EF 70-200mm F4L IS USM and Canon EF 100-400mm F3.5-5.6L IS II.
